Things You Love

  • The ultimate tutorial on how to tie a tie. Starring Aurelie Claudel, Featuring the song “Fashion Party” by Danielle Luppi.

  • My documentary “Meaning of Robots” will make it’s world premiere at the upcoming annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah!

I could never have imagined what I would find.

In the Spring of 2011, after years of hiring him to build miniature sets for my films I asked Mike Sullivan for his help on an art project – A doll-sized protest kit. During the process I got a peek into his world and discovered that it was anything but miniature.

What I found was a man dedicated, overwhelmed, slightly lost and happy to share it with honesty and a little humor.

I also found thousands of Robots with wieners.

This is a character exploration, a documentary, a Henry Darger-esque allegory set in one studio apartment on 27th street in New York City.

  • Welcome to another installment of First Aid For Choking—musical remedies to counter a world of credit downgrades, plaid cargo shorts, riots, and longboards (which are kind of  like the Crocs of skateboards.)

This month I am especially pleased to present the soundtrack to the second half of your summer. A selection of tracks, from Gospel to Garage Punk, curated by rare book dealer, Arthur Fournier.

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to hear him DJ, then you know how awesome his retro-eclectic madness is, and if you haven’t, well, then prepare to pop your first ear boner. Download it here.

  • Todd James and Steve Powers created an enormous installation at the The Museum Of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles for the Art In The Streets exhibition. moca.org

They asked me to direct a film for the installation to commemorate the seminal documentary Style Wars. And so “Style Wars The Musical” was born. Todd & Steve have the best fucking ideas… and the music that was created is OUT OF CONTROL.

Here’s a time-lapse of the shoot. If you want to see the film then head over to MOCA and get schooled.

  • Filmmaker Gaspar Noé’s last film, Irreversible, famously had a nine minute anal-rape scene with the lovely Monica Bellucci and a murder scene so grisly that a replica latex head had to be made just to be bashed in.

I had the chance to interview him at the Bowery Hotel for an issue of Dossier. Read it here.
